A new logo for Lichess

I'm not the only one recognizing a similarity. If you dont, thats fine, people have different associations. I still believe though that the new logo should have been put on a vote cause that would settle all complaints. While the lichess is owned by Thibault I belive changing the logo should have been a community call.
Making it a community call would have just devolved into endless bikeshedding. It would have basically been a discussion just like this one, except it would be wasting time that could be spent improving the site in other ways. The idea that a vote would have settled all complaints is silly. Everybody's got their taste, and often people inherently dislike change.

The new logo is distinctive, clean, and shrinks to small sizes well. To my eyes, it's also aesthetically pleasing. I hope it sticks around for a long time.
Yes indeed @zagaberoo
What would be the point of voting on something which is clearly very subjective. I completely agree with your final sentence.
@zagaberoo
In your opinion it would have been wasting time. Let's not forget that's simply your opinion. For many others the process of choosing in and of itself would have been an interesting and enjoyable experience. I'm sure it would have been absolutely amazing to see the ideas that people could have come up with their creativity unleashed. At any given time there are several threads of discussion going on on this site. Are they all wasting time? Do you think the dev's and adnims wait for all discussions to be over before they work on other things?
I guess if you agree with a decision it will always be your position that further discussion would have been a waste of time.
@chessspy1 You wrote: "What would be the point of voting on something which is clearly very subjective?"

Pardon the observation, but that's a nonsensical question. People vote on subjective things, like what direction their country should go in, all the time--precisely because they *are* subjective. The point, of course, is to arrive at a decision that a majority of the people like. Does voting always result in the selection of the best option? No, but it does tend to make for happier communities.
Hi, I'm Donald Duck. I support Trump for president. Therefor the coming election is nothing but a waste of time because we already have the right president. Quack quack!
Ok, I guess I should have made it more obvious that that post had nothing to do with politics and was in fact satire of #263's logic. I don't see how it could be more obvious though.
