The reason South Korea did well VS Corona is because they had practice with SARS, the previous Corona virus.

Also, of course USA will have many more deaths and cases, USA is much bigger and tests many more people. AND USA didn’t have that practice Korea had in the past.

I take issue with your claim that USA is doing “badly”. USA is doing much better than Italy, Spain and China, India etc. those guys don’t even report the truth. It would be nice if you presented evidence of SPECIFICALLY what USA is doing so as you put “badly”.

The link I posted points out a sick double standard and hypocrisy of the left. They called Trump racist for closing travel from infected regions, now they say he didn’t do enough... Pathetic.

If South Korea had a case count proportional to the United States we would have 60k cases not 423k cases. That's almost 7x as many cases accounting for population size. Not to mention, this "SK had experience with SARS" point doesn't make any sense. We had experience with H1N1 and Ebola as well as had prepared in advance by constructing a Pandemic Task Force. Trump got rid of that in 2018 as well as cut the CDC because he didn't want to "have workers on hand when their is no need for them" completely misunderstanding the utility in preparedness.

Another point is that the number of tests that are issued is not the real indicator as to whether a country is doing something right or not. The real indicator, which you have shown you understand, is the proportional amount of tests being issued, the per capita number. I recommend you look at the graphic in the following link I'm going to post. The key thing in this whole situation was the timing. So while the United States was lagging behind in rolling out tests as well as taking the necessary actions to mitigate the virus instead opting for a state's rights version of combating the virus, many other countries were actually listening to the experts, acting accordingly and in hindsight it's clear as day when you look at the disparity between us and other countries.

Because of his timing, Trump wasn't able to get a foothold on the virus. He also wasn't willing to leverage the Defense Production Act early enough. We could have had industries putting forth collective efforts to produce all the things we are currently experiencing shortages of.

Have you heard of the way in which we have been sourcing materials from abroad? Private companies have sourced a lot of materials from abroad, the federal government procures them for the private sector and air lifts them for them and then the PPE's arrive and the 50 states are required to bid on them them. In many cases you have states like New York and Massachusetts waiting on an order until they get a call that another state, or country, has outbid them and/or that FEMA has taken control of the supplies. It's creating a situation where the federal government is being used in order to funnel profits into the private sector. None of this is normal and none of this is defensible and it's not ok.

3 years ago, in January 17th an executive order was signed to build the "Wall" was this, it remains much the same, in September 2019, Trump said he planned to build 450–500 miles of the new wall by the end of 2020. However, as of November 2019, while at least 76 miles of the existing wall has been REPLACED or REINFORCED during Trump's presidency, no NEW wall had yet been completed. On December 17, 2019, acting Commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection Mark Morgan stated that 93 miles of the NEW wall had been built during the Trump administration; according to CBP figures, at least 90 miles of that REPLACED existing structures. but don't tell @Kusokosla it might make him think that his blind trust in Trump should go a little further than just his borsch-restaurant-is-doing-good-so-Trump-must-be-god attitude.

Trump is a liar, he is dangerous to the US of A, to democracy and to the well being of the world, but he likes borsch...

In 2009 60’000’000 Americans got infected and 17’000 died from H1n1, nobody wore a mask, Obama didn’t say anything, neither did propaganda media. But now suddenly they see opportunity to claim Trump did something wrong etc. It’s pathetic and you should see thru it.

there are NO Shortages of anything in USA, again, Democrats will SAY there are shortages, but NY governor admits he has enough of everything, EVERYONE that needs a ventilator gets one, EVERYONE.

You say Trump didn’t act early enough? THis is silly. He closed travel from infected regions so early that he was called racist and WHO bashed him for it also. Literally everyone said he was too early, now you say he is too late??? This is laughable.

@Crapablanca64 I would just be careful with anecdotal evidence. There's a reason Fouci has criticized people claiming hydroxychloroquine is a legitimate treatment for the virus. The fact is that we don't have any evidence that it works and anecdotal evidence can't substitute what the results of a clinical trial study would provide. Unfortunately this drug is just a part of the political fight going on between the Trump administration and the left. Not to mention he wouldn't even allow Fouci to answer the question from a reporter about the science and evidence behind the drug. He wouldn't allow it.

The biggest difference between the U.S. and South Korea related to COVID-19 is the cultural attitude toward wearing masks. Masks were already widely accepted and in use in South Korea because of air quality problems. Health officials in the U.S. screwed up big-time by underestimating asymptomatic spread of COVID-19. I can understand them wanting to try to preserve the mask supply for health care workers, but they should have found a way to restrict sales of masks to people most in need of them and recommended that the general public use DIY face coverings of some sort from the start. That would have helped control the outbreak tremendously. Mask wearing is more culturally accepted in Asia, but the Czech Republic and Slovakia show that approach can work outside of Asia.

One obvious observation about America is this:

Americans are not obedient citizens, we will not wear masks, some will, and God bless them, but some of us will not and that’s that. Yes my scared fearful friends, freedom is dangerous and life isn’t risk-free. Americans resist any attempts to lock us indoors or to make us wear masks or whatever else dictatorial governments may try. This is historical way of America, people who came here ran from Socialist oppressive regimes to be left alone, to not be told what to do. It’s reality. Nothing can or will ever be done about it.

I speak as a legal refugee to America, it’s something one notices immediately about Americans, they are very skeptical of anyone who tells them what to do and orders them around. They don’t like that.
