@Kusokosla You posted an NBC article but it didn't lead anywhere so I had to search it. This article was on Feb 25, we didn't confirm out first case until January 21. She was commenting on the way people were staying away from the businesses in San Francisco's Chinatown based on the reasoning that Chinese people somehow had the virus. It's the same argument you would make if people were expressing concern over receiving packages from China. It's not the problem. She was commenting on that phenomenon, not downplaying the virus during a critical window where other countries like South Korea who confirmed their first case on the same day as the United States. SK managed to keep their deaths at 200 as of right now with 10k cases. We will probably hit 500k cases by the end of the week and are sitting at 14.2k dead. Why are we doing so bad at containing this thing?
Let me say one more thing because it's really important. Saying this Dem said that, this other Dem said this is not an argument. I don't stand for the Democratic Party. I'm an individual. Politics isn't a sports game between two teams despite the fact that it is so often treated like a tribal bloodbath. The two-party first-past-the-post- voting system we have is terrible, we all agree. Democrats and Republicans just happen to be our only options in terms of electorally affecting change until we get a better system.
