Is it just me or...

...does everyone else play better chess against significantly higher rated players? Obviously I lose a great majority of the games but I still win and draw games here and there. Mainly though, my point is that those games seem to be much higher quality games. And more fun.
For me the fact that higher rated players play book openings means that i'm in familiar ground when playing them. Beginner players crap although unsound makes you have to work harder to figure out how to punish their mistakes.
I think what he is saying is when you play higher rated players you play your maximum best game and on that odd occassion you snag a win you feel great. But my point is he's 1100, beating a 1600. When it's higher up it's not fun anymore and just becomes painfully stressful with every move. Although I see what he's saying, it does feel good.
So I was talking about +500 to +700 higher rated. For me that’s about 1600 to maybe 2000. I realize those higher rated players make mistakes too but clearly far less often. I realize my rare wins are pretty lucky too. I’ve just noticed the games to be better quality and more fun. Yes it can be somewhat stressful but that’s kinda the fun part. Like I can play a London opening and have a fairly competitive game with a say 1800 player but this doesn’t happen so often with fellow 1100-1300 players because of a move like f3 for black. I don’t know how to punish such a move and material just gets exchanged. Anyway I’ve just noticed very very different games against higher rated players and although I lose a lot I find it more fun.
Yeah. What you are experiencing is when you play these players you get to play 'real' chess with some reasonable opening lines.
