"Practice with Computer" playing awful moves in some positions

In this position, the practice computer insists on playing Rg5, which gets mated in 2, when there are many better moves available. I can't get it to play anything else despite refreshing and changing engine settings. Is there a way to mix its responses up?

Well, there may be many less capitulatory responses...but I suspect that White is lost there (and therefore the machine sees all roads as leading equally to defeat; that's not true of course, but it's a common engine shortcoming).
