Players who quit instead of resigning - what to do?

I would really appreciate having an option to play with people with matching game completition rate. Current message in chat about ban doesn't help, as those quitters never see this message once they quit the game without resigning. Simple profile preference setting when creating a new game will do the trick. After all, Game completition is a known value, as I can see it when I visit the players profile. Lichess, please, pretty please, give us this option, it will be a smooth autocorrecting mechanism, that will reward the people that are playing in a gentleman way. What is here now simply allows rude people to behave badly without any real consequences. Many thanks!
I think another improvement that could be made in this regard is that I have the option to just mute that person from ever seeing another of their challenges or letting them see mine.

So over time, people that do this will just see and less and less folks to even engage with. But even if they don't I'll never have to deal with them again. It could even send a nasty gram to that person that because they aborted they now have X people that won't play with them.
I've started to play primarily tournaments. Quitters are not very common there. Maybe because those that join a tournament aims for playing several games.

Yes a block same as the following facility would be a great idea. Though like pulling weeds out of your driveway. Another seems to pop up just when you think its all clean :)
Is it really a big issue though ? For many years I've been playing on that website and while is it true sometimes people behave rudely, I don't feel like it's a big issue, I don't even block those people because the chance of me playing them again is quite slim.

The lichess team say they're banning them if they abuse too much, isn't that enough?

If we show the completion rate on the beginning of the match and you abort the game because of that then your completion rate will also decrease and overtime people will avoid you too.
If we stop taking account of abortions in completion rate, people will abuse that too, some people will start to abort games for any kind of unreasonable reasons.
If we implement a new completion rate and show that, some people which aren't abusers will likely be left on the side because of bad connections or unforeseen imperative, I don't think that is very correct
Plus if we let people with bad completions rate only play against themselves they would have much difficulty finding a game, and since it happens rarely it won't stop the phenomenon for you anyway, new abusers will always come up maybe even more now since the threat of the ban is removed.

Also on a more human level, chess can be very frustrating, what about a kid hurt in his "pride" and trying to get at you by doing the last thing he can do to be annoying, would you just ban him instantly forever from lichess?

I feel like, in that regard, the current system is just the best : some warnings and a finally a ban if it's really too much.
Dont think its about punishment or banning so much as just avoiding. % completion displayed at outset would just help as a guide same as rating. I get your point re aborting but not sure it counts against you if done within the 20 sec countdown. Worth clarifying.
If you need to block cheats, that is a restriction of your capacity as a non-cheat to enjoy every facet of this site.
Trust the staggeringly vast ability of this site to detect cheats.
In my so far short active time here I am mightily impressed with the tech ability coupled with the integrity level.
