Players who quit instead of resigning - what to do?

Well my brilliant plan is no good,I just got this warning when my opponent disconnected and I resigned.

Warning, GaryShowbiz. Losing games on purpose will result in a ban.

It looks like we are stuck with waiting. Oh well..at least I have a 100% completion rate which I am proud of
#32 If you resign on move 2,it will give a message of losing games on purpose.
I like the idea of being able to 'mute' or personally mark players , but I think just showing completion % amongst challenges or being able to filter out those with poor % (just like setting a filter on ranking) would work great..... Hope the lichess teams consider these options.
Some times poor internet connection causing this...When a game is on., In the middle game suddenly game shows that waiting for move even we made....It will took few minutes to recover.....If our opponent is understand situation he or she waits..For good gaming side it is our part to resign or when game return we should say sorry for waiting...Play until last second and respectfully can resign at that moment...Because all are coming to play...Why should we waste his or her play time...In this problem no individual is to be pointed...We came here to play.... get experience...Having fun for our blunders....Alternative moves by opponent...Etc...This is game of strategy...How we thought at that movement and ultimate result of game is to be noticed....SORRY MASTERS...If I have said any wrong....It's only my interest in chess
I just had someone quit with 7 mins on the clock . Its unbelievably bad sportsmanship.

Are peoples egos really that fragile that they can't take losing? Its only a game for gods sake
#38 Unfortunately, the fewer games a player plays, the more likely they are to ragequit (because players who have played many, many games either give up on chess or accept that losing is part of the game).

But in each individual case, I prefer to imagine the player had no choice - perhaps some sort of emergency occurred on their end.
I still think Lichess is not doing enough against leavers, while doing wrong and counterproductive things, like addressing the leaver's *victim* with useless irritating warnings intended for the leaver instead. Those warnings should be posted to the leaver's own message box, not in chat windows. What I want to read in the chat window instead is "your opponent has been sus0ended for leaving without resigning".
