hey guys

I think that 2.a4 and 3.Qxd4 is not the best try to fight englund gambit.Black won very well, developing all pieces and with a few tactics.
Really not sure what white was thinking with 2. a4 - completely dubious and premature rook-pawn move. After 5. Qd5, you're in the driver's seat, as he's wasted some tempi already.

What was your idea with 6...h5? Doesn't seem to gain anything and you lose your edge in development; I'd advocate just continuing natural development, maybe Be7, and prepare to castle. You keep your kingside pawn barrier nice and compact - there's no immediate threat on the kingside.

Similarly, with your next move, Ng4, you are wasting your temporary edge by moving another piece twice without warrant. Again, I'd focus on developing that DSB to a natural square, castle and get your rook in the game.

From there, white just played a bad game, didn't use their time wisely, and hung a lot of their material.
