Opening suggestions, please.

I've been playing chess for 60 years, and my rating here is in the 1900 range. I do reasonably well with white opening c4, but I do best playing against the Sicilian when I open with e4 (I go into the Smith-Morra, and I have an 85% win rate).

My problem: if I play e4 and my opponent replies e5, my usual response has been the King's Gambit--and my win/loss record is pretty bad in that opening. I do love a good, slashing attack, but I'm not making e4...f4 work very often.

So, will somebody please suggest an alternative? What's the best continuation after 1. e4 e5 that (1) doesn't require me to learn two boatloads of theory, (2) gives white a solid initiative, and (3) lets me use my tactical skill? My current candidates include the Evans Gambit and the Scotch, but...opinions about those? Other ideas?

Thanks in advance.
if you play for sixty years, you do not need advice on opening ...
however, as a player of 1 e4, I suggest you play the simple 2 Bc4 after 1 e4 e5. the bishop's opening is very flexible and guarantees you a good game in all variations.
If regular Kings gambit isn't working for you then maybe try 3. Bc4 instead of Nf3, imo its much better
The bishop's opening will not guarantee you a tactical game. Really I would say the options you have are the King's Gambit and the Vienna Gambit which is similar. If you want a tactical game without 'boatloads of theory' then 1.f4 should be worth a try though.
In the style of Smith Morra: 1 e4 e5 2 d4 exd4 3 c3. Luring away the central e-pawn should be better than luring away the wing c-pawn.
