alekhine fans, where are you?

I know, some people think, that this opening is garbage.

But i played it with black since I am a 1200. And now even beeing in the range of 1800-1900 (in Rapid), its still my go to Opening with black against e4.

You just have to know the theory of the most played lines and the weakpoints of this opening, and you will have an Edge against your opponents because they dont see this opening very often.

And (thats my favourite reason) You can deny so many Opening variations from white and force him to play your opening.
Petrov, Ruy Lopez, Italian Game, and almost any gambit is declined.

More dynamic, less theory, more fun

If love the Alekhine defense. Besides Caro-Kann it's the opening I choose most when facing 1. e4.
As the mentioned, if you know the opening theory you often get quite interesting positions and you prevent
deeper opening theory of opponents (at least on my level).

One can even become a GM by solely playing the bongcloud opening. Much more important is if you can retain advantages and not allow any disadvantages after your possibly bad opening.
