Time hacks?

I was playing a rapid game that I was winning on time and on the board. I got lazy and lost my concentration and lost my queen for nothing right at the end, giving them an advantage, but they were very low on time. They were a couple of moves from checkmating me when their time ran out. Except it didn't. They suddenly had a few more seconds. I wasn't playing a variation that added more time to the clock(as far as I knew, I initiate 99% of my games), so I was totally caught off guard. I was wondering if this was a hack of some kind, or if this just means I was inadvertently playing a game with custom rules or something. I have won games with less than a second on the clock, so I would certainly notice if I ever got a time boost.
Can you specify which game it was? Lichess has a feature thanks to which you see exact clock times so you can check it out.
Probably you lost network briefly, your opponent's clock ran out. When your were connected to server you saw that opponent's clock was stopped and your clock was running. Happens with me sometimes when network is not stable.

I had requested a feature that will show you total time you lost due to connection issues and lichess would alert you when your network is unstable but like always they never respond on play store.
Thanks for the answers, I'll look up the game(have to sift through a lot). The time didn't go to zero, it went to less than a second, and then when they moved, they got a few more seconds. But that network thing also makes sense.
So I found the game. I was not clearly winning on the board as I selectively remember, nor did I get checkmated(I think it's kind of funny how my mind confabulated the game, to both falsely remember that I was dominating, and also, over-exaggerating my defeat. I had most definitely lost the game on the board though). I was ahead enough on time that I would have won fairly easily if I hadn't spaced out my queen and suddenly had to react(The game was almost over at that point, as I recall, but my recollection is apparently not that great). So it ended up very close on time, and as I said, they were about to run out, but suddenly got a few more seconds and won on time. You can see they had 2.8 seconds left, that was the difference, the timer was about to expire on the move previous to their last move, they would have had a fraction of a second at most.

I don't see a way to examine the game time on this page. Also, I am currently on a massive bad streak where I can barely beat anyone, so my profile is too ugly to behold right now. If you want to examine some really bad chess playing, look at most of my games this weekend. :)

This seemed like a friendly person that was pretty good at chess, and they are following me actually, so I am inclined to give this person the benefit of the doubt, at the time it happened I thought it was weird, but thought maybe there was some rule that went into effect at the end where you got a bonus if you made a good move or something like that. I didn't deserve to win it, but I have lost several clearly won games on time, so winning one I'm losing on time(which is quite rare because I play so slow myself) is not something I feel bad about. :)

It's just one loss out of many, so it's not that big of a deal, but I am new here and was just curious if this had happened to anyone, if it was common, etc. It was a nasty surprise.
Ok, I couldn't see the time thing on the side because it was too big in my browser. The times on the side do not tell the story as I witnessed it with my own eyes, but it just shows them making several moves with no time going off the clock, maybe that is an indicator of network issues. I didn't remember that I had a 2 and a half minute lead at the time I lost my queen. And I apparently just gave up. Which seems odd as the game shows me with 11 secs left after I am checked. I certainly had time to attempt to run.
