How did you learn chess?

The mephisto i learnt on back in the 90s, used to drive me insane...
My dad taught me to move the pieces but didn't exactly know how to play a good chess. He didn't even know anything about the special rules of chess (castling, etc) so I couldn't learn too much.

In highschool, a teacher (1750 elo fide) decided to start making chess classes for students who wanted to learn. I started being passionate about chess 2 years ago more or less. 2 days after I started learning chess, I made my lichess account, which I still use atm.

Now I'm on a chess club and I've gotten a lot better since! sry for my bad english tho
In 1983 I borrowed a Reinfeld book from a public library and I read it before I saw a real chessboard. [not a joke].
Then I got a cheap plastic chess set.
ah....................reinfeld.......................my idol!!!! everyone should own a copy of both of his 1001 books............. preferably in descriptive notation, natch!!!!
Yes, I learnt in English Descriptive from a huge Fred Reinfeld coffee table chess book with each page having a photograph of one move! Then I moved to playing against chess computers, mainly a Novag Primo. Oddly the Novag had a small screen and it gave the move only in English descriptive! Ah the days of P-K4...:)
I went to a library and there was this chess club and learned the very bare basics. Then I went to a club and my skill lvl started to go up. And then I got a coach and where I am now.
