Rating graphs older than 2 years are too imprecise now.

Why have the rating graphs been modified that are older than two years? They are extremely inaccurate now and even ugly. Many rating peaks and downs are completely abolished. Could that be undone?
Sorry, my thread's title is inaccurate too. I meant that periods longer than two years are not shown accurately any more in the rating graphs. That annoys me, and it should be undone.
This is not a chess discussion but a Lichess feedback.

And yes, I also noticed that they smoothed the graphs. You always can choose the interval of time so to see the precise values again.
Hi @Sybotes, of course I can still choose the period of time for precise rating graphs, but since it is always only for the interval of two years, it's not enough für me. I wish to have at least five years-intervals with precise rating graphs.
I reached one peak of Elo 1997 in Bullet in the 4th November 2023. In the imprecise graph, this peak is gone and reduced to 1967. What' s that useful for??
It's a graph, not a full table of all values. In a graph, a smoothened curve make more sense to me than randomly picked subset of snapshots. If you want a precise value for a specific day, use a shorter interval around it.

Why would showing a single maximum be better, than what is shown now? (Which might be some some sort of average, I don't know for sure)

A graph of non-representative outliers - is that what you're asking for? Maybe candlesticks would be useful, but it's rather technical compared to the simple curve.
Coming to whether the commit can be undone, looks like no and the reason is here: lichess.org/feed#GaJCZJ

Some other proprietary charting library was used all these days and the developers decided to migrate to open source chart.js. Given lichess is AGPLv3+ license, the change was long overdue
They decided to give them a facelift, but it's like they went for a Picasso vibe – abstract and confusing.

Now, your rating history looks like it went on a roller coaster with a blindfold. Peaks and valleys? More like gentle slopes and mysterious wormholes.

If only we could turn back time on those graphs, like a chess-themed version of Back to the Future. "Marty, we have to fix the ratings, or the space-time continuum of our chess legacy will be ruined!"

But alas, we're stuck with these quirky graphs. Maybe in another two years, they'll decide to remodel again. Until then, enjoy the abstract masterpiece that is your chess rating history!
