So apperently penguin and arka decided to draw on purpose to make sure alireza can't win...

Why is no one talking about this? Is it ok to abuse rules to make sure a certain player can't win?

Penguin has 124 points and alireza has 122. If penguin loses his match and alireza wins his, alireza is the winner of the tournament because they both have the same score but alireza has better performance. How do we know it? Even though alireza loses his last match and penguin draws his, penguin only has 1 performance point more. I'm pretty sure if penguin lost and alireza won, this would be enough to make alireza's performance higher or at least equal to that of penguin.

Obviously alireza didn't win his last game anyway but still, the fact penguin and arka decided to draw to make sure alireza can't win is absolutely unacceptable and I don't understand why no one is talking about it? On reddit one person told me that it's a common strategy? Is it? Do you even call it strategy? I know of instances in soccer where similar thing happend and it was considered scandalous behaviour so you're telling me soccer community has more strict fair play rules and standards than chess community? This is not even "Very high versus ultra high standards" it's more like "common sense standards vs no standards" kind of thing.

I'm just shocked I thought hat I was entering a respectable community but if what that redditor said is true then I was clearly wrong. Please tell me that what that guy said isn't true.
"I'm just shocked I thought hat I was entering a respectable community" no respectable communities nowdays beware. human kind is similar everywhere. always was, is, always will. I actually belive they cooperated but I strongly think that not any action will be taken because of that violation of the rules.
This is not against the rules. People do this often. Anyone who has played in some OTB tourneys knows this. why are you complaining about this ?
i've seen this happen in all tournaments down to the 1500 level if the game is going to last longer than end of tourney then a draw will ensure you get extra points on the board.

offering a draw is a legal move
The only intention is to get that extra point before the tournament is over.
When you know that it's impossible to beat your opponent in the remaining 15seconds, you offer a draw and get that extra point.
In a tournament you are not playing against a specific opponent, you are playing to get the maximum points. So what the Peng did was justified , I feel :-)
Well, sorry, I do not see how is that rule abuse. There is no rule in Lichess Terms of Service, Arena rules or specifically Lichess Titled Arena rules that "you can't make a quick draw on purpose". If you think such a rule should be added I can argue that the players can make it hard to distinguish a prearranged draw to a real draw, and it just doesn't change much really (in most cases it gives no profit to make a quick draw in Arena because it kills the fire combo), so it is the superfluous complexity.
And I don't think they cooperated in advance, it has just happened that a quick draw is good for both of them, and playing the game out would most likely result into a non-counted Arena game, so essentially zeros for both.
In the Lichess Spring Marathon 2018, some weaker players in the top 100 (including me) drew fast intentionally to make sure they will not fall out of the top 100.
Nobody complained

It is normal in chess.

For the records, this was the position:

Arka reached third rank with this draw (one point more than wizard), Pengu didnt lose first. Wise decision by both.

If at all you can critizise Pengu, not Arka. Pengu reached nothing with this draw. But seriously, if you can seal the deal by accepting draw now, why wouldnt you?

Edit, ok, i just see that Pengu actually made sure that he reaches first place, even if Ali wins.
Seriously, you're upset about this? It isn't against the rules. Maybe your sense of sportsmanship is offended, but it isn't against any rules.
I'm shocked two players would agree to a draw when it is in their best interest. Unthinkable. Kappa.
