That's pretty bad. It's not that hard of a move to spot. Was he under time pressure?

Note that this was move 47 in a blitz game. It's a nice puzzle though, for us amateurs.

Rook takes knight pushes pawn, rook can not stop it.
Must have been time contrasted not to process this one out quickly.

Maybe he assumed he trusted the other players judgement to play this move.
Either psychological or time problems is my thoughts.
