Take backs

My opinion has always been that rated games shouldn't include the "+" button to increase the opponent's time and shouldn't allow takebacks. If you want to play chill and casual chess with those features too, you can play... casual and not rated.
Often times these just lead to abuse in rated games from people who "expect" the opponent to grant them additional time for something that happened or give a takeback for similar reasons.
Personally I just disabled takebacks altogether in all rated games.
If the opponent is kind enough, I accept the takeback.
You say 'rated games' as though chess website ratings are so important lol. Relax, don't worry about it. The rating system is self adjusting towards your actual ability so a couple games here or there are going to make absolutely no difference.
The other point that hasn't been mentioned is the value of the game we are playing itself. why do we play chess? For the love of the game or to prop up fragile egos with rating points. If you are having a good game, which is a beautiful thing, and someone makes an obvious mouse slip by dropping their queen one square away from a recapture giving their queen away for free, well come on. Why let a really good beautiful game be spoiled by something dumb like that. You are hurting BOTH PLAYERS by not accepting in a case like that and that's a shame.
Rating points are ephemeral. If you got a couple rating points that you didn't earn because of a mouseslip they will be gone and forgotten the next day anyway. But a good game you will remember for a long time.

Sometimes you can't tell but sometimes you can. Let's say black's rook takes your rook on a1 that's protected by your queen and instead of taking back you drop your queen one square away from the rook, which can now take your queen too. Obviously the intent was to recapture but the queen dropped one square short of its intended destination.
