"Thinking by Analogy" in the opening

Hey everyone! I enjoyed playing the blitz session recorded in the video below. I touched on some important topics, including pawn structure transformations, playing against an isolated queen's pawn, and more.

Towards the end of the video, I give an example of how to "think by analogy" in the opening. This is rarely touched on, as I mostly see amateurs bemoan the fact that their preparation is "useless" after their opponent deviates from their memorized line.

Opening preparation doesn't have to work this way! Thinking by analogy is just want benefit to taking the time to thoroughly build, understand, analyze, and implement a Master-Level Opening Repertoire.

Enjoy the video and let me know what you think!

@GCH82 Thanks! I’m glad you found it helpful.

I do offer coaching - including a Mentorship program which I believe is more efficient and cost-effective than traditional chess lessons. If you’re interested, get in touch with me at chesspathways.com/contact
I which there were automated ways of converting videos like these into studies or interactive novels or interactive decision tree and slides instead of inexorable lecturer.

These videos, are a disappointment when I see the threads topic in this forum, why not expose the content here, or link to an equivalent study, or build a study instead of videos.

The videos sound interesting by the posts I read about them, but which never stick to my memory, or actually sustain my attention.

Interactive studies, interactive graphics, not the one pace fits all of passive videos, sometimes too slow, sometimes too fast.
This is a general comment about these video advertising threads with interesting topics, the op here, is not alone. I just wanted to point out that some people, are not learning that well through one way lectures. I must not be the only one.

I do like the discussion of analogy versus imitation, but I think non-interactive lessons are precisely responsible for that, as the person listening does not integrate the principles through the interactive play, and has to accumulate the memory of successive events without having the time to internally discuss them by doing them.....Is that plausible, makes my rant above less of a spam, I hope.
