Very nice attacking game from Caruana. Though it was a Slav, a generally positional opening (in most cases).
In this kind of positions, it is very typical to do a rook lift and attack the white king. It was a good game from Caruana.
There are several move repetitions in this game, presumably to gain time to think longer.
28...Rxf3 shattering the protecting pawns and intending 29...Ng5 with a devastating attack along the light squares would have been stronger.
Caruana was lucky that his opponent did not find 30 Qxe4. By 30 Red1 white removed the rook from the protection of e3 and made the deadly sacrifice 30...Nxe3+ possible.
