Material bug

Hi, I found that when my opponent only has B+K or N+K vs my lone K, then the game is draw. But if he has B+K or N+K and I have a K+pawn then I will lose if my time runs out. I feel like the rules are a bit off sometimes from what is reasonable, not sure if anyone else has noticed this too.
No it is not good for me. I lose when I have an extra pawn, but when I only have my king I will get a draw. That is not rational.
This approach is pretty close to the one of the official federation, FIDE.

So this ending is unreasonable, @eligolf ? White could let his time run out to get a draw? Reasonable?

This is a highly specific case. You cannot force a king into the corner from the center with only a king and a knight/bishop. Same as 2 knights vs king should be draw, practically speaking.

The cases where it is a draw is vastly more common than the ones that you can get a win. So should you favor those 1/million cases instead of the other 99.999%? I don't think that is a reasonable approach.
@Sarg0n you know how it is since you post on these topics whenever they arrive: people will happily take a win in such positions but as soon as they lose on time, something is terribly wrong and needs to be fixed NOW, I demand to see an arbiter.
Winning with highly improbable won positions is no problem though? How often does White win here in regular games?

#7 Exactly so. And while USCF takes their basic rules through contortions to make the game more appealing to children, FIDE basic rules are simple and elegant (and inspirational).
The whole fide versus uscf discussion is not fruitful because however you do it in online chess it will always be imperfect. Lichess, FIDE online and chess.com threw a coin and decided pawn versus knight is a win because it is theoretically possible. chess.com, Pogo and ICC threw a coin and decided it is a draw because the mate happens rarely. All sites dont properly detect all drawn positions. Choose the site which fits your taste better.
