Classical chess dead ? Why

Classical is not suitable for online chess. When you wan't play classical you should go to tournaments in your region.
I enjoy playing classic and I have noticed that ever since it was changed from 15 minutes to 30 on the main page a lot less people play it.
@Firegoat7

Maybe if you find good players, that are online, you could challenge them.

Maybe you could play casual games, to reduce cheating... But someone could torture you anyway, by just cheating a little bit...

It's better bullet games. Even on 3 + 0, some players can easily cheat...

But on classical, some idiot could really torture you by using cheats.
There are a few teams that play Classical.
Maybe consider joining them to get regular games.
@IPA2018 first of all not too many people are around 2300 in classical, second of all classical in general isnt too popular, probably because it's really slow. maybe try creating a game in the lobby or clicking on other people's games in the lobby if you want to play classical.
When I put out a seek for a 30 minute game 5 sec inc it takes about a minute my rate or 200 above.
Thanks everyone who answered my question/
but if we want to improve in chess we should play classical chess
Who wants to play 1 chess game for 1 hour???
It is just a waste of time!
1 minute is just proper for 1 game.
Yeah it takes longer to find a classical game than to play one lol. You can get rapid games much faster. Although I like classical more when I can't get a match I look for a rapid one.

I agree 100% that classical chess will improve you the most as a player. And it is understood that when you have a classical chess rating it is a reflection of your expected win rate against certain field of players. But as I pointed out before this does not transfer into the online experience because cheating is rampant.

Every loss against a cheat forces you to play people who are weaker then you need to play to improve. This means that your progress is slowed and cannot be measured accurately. I suspect that if win rates were measured between OTB rated games and online games for the same players you would see lesser win rates amongst honest players in rated tournaments for those who play online. That is their online win rate would be significantly worse in a meaningful statistical way.

If we consider player ratings over the whole pool via rating we ought to be able to measure the amount of cheating just from comparing known player samples individually. And obviously National groups could also be compared in this way.

Any web developer who solves the online cheating problem in chess without false positives thus guaranteeing the integrity of the games stands to be a very wealthy individual.

In the meantime, players individually have agency and prefer not to be cheated in long fide time control games (they can knowingly play computers easily for improvement), but as things stand are not prepared to waste their time being cheated for very minimal gain if any.
