some questions from the new guy who knows litte

so what exactly do you call when white makes a strategy in order to do something against black. like as we know black will react to something with a move that goes in a series that counters something like e4 which can lead up to a Caro-kann and what im leading up here is basically defense. black has thought of a strategy that is best to try to counter a kings pawn opening and that is what you would call a defense. however, what is it called when white tries to make a strategy for early game, would it be called a gambit? and if in any cases, please list some that I would be able to play because I have no clue in what the hell im doing on white aside from controlling center. also what are some viable "defenses" you could do for white(even though from what I thing should only go for black).
The opening of a game is about developing pieces into play so as to control the center and to bring your king to safety.
Usually you play 2 pawns to open diagonals for your bishops and to secure your knights, then knights, bishops, castle, preferably O-O, bring rooks to open files and last but not least find a good square for your queen.
You have to consider your moves carefully.
Most games are essentially decided by move 30, so you should schedule your time use accordingly. You can always speed up towards the end.
It is recommended to switch on move confirmation in your profile: think about your move, play it, check it is no blunder, confirm.
Here is an example
It is played way too fast and thus contains blunders
1. White doesn't defend, white just develops or even attacks
2. A gambit is when you give up a pawn for better piece activity and attacking chances - both sides can play a gambit. There are also so called "countergambits" where one side gives up a pawn and the other side gives it back/does the same for the very same reason - more active and faster play.

You could for example try the Morra Gambit.
Yeah. Morra gambit is just an amazing choice for club players.I had been playing it for quite a long time.It gives white very nice attacking play.Its a very nice choice against the sicilian.
On the topic of opening names;

It's due to the fact that Black going second, the openings they initiate are usually called defenses. And openings that White play are usually called, Openings or Attacks. Both colours can play gambits and if you play a gambit against another that's called a countergambit, such as Falkbeer Countergambit against King's Gambit. There are openings that Black initiate that are called Attacks such as Marshall Attack. Openings where you hope to play the same moves develop your pieces to same positions are called Systems, such as London System, Colle System.

Different variations of these openings are defenses are called... ...variations. Such as Rubinstein Variation of the French Defense.

Sometimes these names don't always reflect the real nature of the opening. Such as Queen's Gambit, which is not a real gambit. Or King's Indian Defense which Black plays to attack on the King-side.

And there are also openings with questionable names such as Monkey's Bum or Nescafe Frappe Attack.
