Leaving blitz as of now for something else

Got to blitz 2005. Ngl, I don't belong there. So I would be playing rapid from now on. Please let me know what should be the general strategy to become 2100 in rapid.

"I don't want to lose my 2000 rating, so I will avoid playing more games in this time control!"

"When I get to 2100 in rapid, then surely I'll not lose my 2000 in blitz!"
Sounds like you are putting too much sentiment on your rating. Although what I would do is play in the friday classical tournaments on a regular basis if I could. I personally want to do it, the only reason I don't is because my days off are Monday and Tuesday. And I work night shift. Doing the classical on Friday would be very bad for my sleep patterns and I would not be doing well at work later on that night. I really kind of wish I could have Fridays and Saturdays off because that would give me a lot more potential for playing in tournaments more often. When I was 1900 I went over basic stuff like pawn structures. I also focused on more positional items. An example would be understanding the idea behind tension better, or understanding why exchanging pieces that are better than the piece you exchanged is a bad idea. I am dyslexic so personally going through the books suggested up before me would take me ten years to get through one book. My hopes are that some day those books will be transfers onto a video media of some sort. One of the ways that I learned "more positional" chess was to change my opening set ups to reflect certain pawn structures. Colle-Zuckertort was a very good one because you can almost force both the IQP and the hanging pawn formations. And if I wanted to look into minority attacks, a short course on the carlsbad pawn structure took care of that.

Keep in mind that ratings are not a reflection of raw strength. They are a reflection of how you perform against your peers in a pool. This is why trying to transfer ratings to another pool fails. You are unlikely to get the same players from one pool to another. Also you can only find out your "General strength" and focusing on the rating too much only slows you down.
