How much less or more complex are chess variants than regular chess?

I personally think that chess960 is roughly the same complexity as regular chess since many chess960 games have middlegames and endgames similar to regular chess.

Though I also agree with lurarose on #2.
I think horde is actually more complex than standard chess because white starts out with 36 pawns and those pawns can promote so positions with the same types of pieces as in the starting position of standard chess but with the white king replaced with a white queen are possible. Positions that could never occur in standard chess are also possible in horde chess. This is a study to illustrate how horde is probably more complex than standard chess.

Crazyhouse is also more complex than standard chess as every possible game in standard chess is possible in crazyhouse but not every possible game in crazyhouse is possible in standard chess.

KOTH, and Three Check Chess are less complex than standard chess as with the exception of some games that continue after what would be draws by insufficient material in standard every game of KOTH, and Three, Check Chess can be played in standard chess. There are many games that can be played in standard chess that cannot be played in KOTH or Three Check Chess as the game continues after the king gets checked three times, or gets to the center.

Racing kings is less than standard chess as moves that are checks are not allowed, there are fewer pieces, and the game ends once a king gets to the 8th rank.

Atomic is less complex than standard chess as most of the moves in atomic are possible in standard chess, even if they don't blow up pieces, and only one piece is captured at a time in standard chess, meaning there are more pieces to move after a capture in standard chess.

Anti Chess is probably the simplest variant as once a piece can be forced to capture something there are no non capturing moves meaning that many games that are possible in other variants are impossible in Anti Chess
