Forbidden pairings in Swiss tournaments

Hi: I can see there is an option of Forbidden pairings when you configure a Swiss tournament.

The small explanation of this option says: "Usernames of players that must not play together (Siblings, for instance)."

What is the aim of that option, please? Why to forbid siblings (for instance) to be paired?

Thanks.
I suppose it's for whatever reason you as an organizer decide.

In OTB official swiss tournaments this happens from time to time. Not the siblings thing, but for example the Iran ban to compete against Israel players - arbiters should and tend to set these forbidding rules so the players don't have any conflict.

I'm with you that the siblings thing sounds a bit weird... but oh well, if me and my sibling are going to play an online swiss arena with many players I understand I'd rather face other people than my sibling that lives with me.
To avoid throwing. Like 2 siblings my draw on purpose
This is really a scholastic tournament feature. We've had tournaments where twins are in the same event, and get paired against one another. Plus, it also allows real-life schoolmates to not be paired, so in effect, Swiss tournaments with school teams are now possible.

Really great feature, LiChess!

Related to "Swiss tournaments with school teams are now possible" I don't see how to do that in an esay way, because you have to manually enter all the parings to be forbidden, so, for instance, in a match between 2 teams of 5 players each, you need to manually enter 10 pair of players for each team, so, in total, 20 pairs, in order to avoid that a player could be paired with a player of the same team.

Perhaps there is something I don't understand about Team Swiss tournaments. Sorry.

Thanks
