Queering of the Knights

I'm having trouble remembering but my prof today was talking about Nabokov and his interest in chess, and also some queer elements of Lolita, and at some point he said "the queering of the knight". Again sorry I forget what he was getting at here, but it got me thinking.. knights are the most gay chess pieces, correct?

(ps-- I do not mean gay as a slur, I mean literally gay)
umm they mention Nabokov and Lolita, so probably literature?

but can we stay on topic, like if a piece were to be gay, wouldn't it be knights? OR...(hot take) the king??
yes it was indeed english literature. still feeling bad I cannot remember the lecture properly but it was a long day. the king is quite gay i agree
Lolita has nothing to do with sexual orientation.And queering also has nothing to do with it.Google the verb "to queer"
The king is gay in a very proper, old school british aristocratic way. He likes to stay in his estate with his three pawns (children) and beard (the rook). Often in the end game the rook leaves his side because they are tired of living a lie.

Meanwhile the knights are flamboyantly gay, cruising the board... often they "Come out" before any other piece. These are the kind of guys that are so slutty they love to hit two things at once, unprotected. its often said the Knight and queen are the best duo... this reminds me of term "fag hag." The knight is definitely the gayest piece.
think it's probably a reach to say objectively that there are no elements of queerness in all of Lolita. And sure, but queer's primary meaning has changed just as the word gay has changed. I'm sorry that I triggered you though. Didn't mean to make you contemplate gayness. Bless

@obladie
Nonsense! Everybody knows that the Bishop is gay.

I can't believe it hadn't been brought up before you did. I'm glad you lifted this burden off my shoulders.
