Will AI kill the internet?

1: Search engines switch to giving AI answers instead of links.
2: Now there's no trafic to sites, so open sites costing money to run shut down.
3: Millions of cheap webpages appear filled with automated low quality AI-content.
4: Social Media gets filled up with billions of bots spamming AI-generated content.
5: People switch to just messaging their IRL friends and only post in closed groups.
6: Second generation AI gets fed with AI-text which makes them bad.
7: Now we neither have good AI nor web pages.
8: We might even have to get back to living more in the real world and to read books again!
In future what will happen to people and kids

Everything AI

Just stop making AI

One mistake and BOOM!

Everything will change in the world
AI may lead to extinction.
AI may just ignore us and find anther planet.
AI may remain here and just help us boost the economy skyrocketing it.
AI may think: "Why do I need humans" and **** us all.

(Last scenario is made by myself, but it is quite possible)

Nothing will boom because AI is made by professional coders and it is just in an electronic device. "Just stop making AI": The answer is NO, NO one will stop. I watched on youtube that someone was asking the founder of google (who is working on his AI) "can we stop making AI if needed" - NO, that will let China our competitor catch up. That tells us that the future of the humans will be with AI 100%. No matter what future it will be, AI will be in it, and it will bring good or bad to the world. So everyone should be ready.
The only thing i would worry about is where did the dataset used come from?
we do not want another github copilot incident if you see what i mean
anyways AI is not Only LLms, LLms are cool but they are overhyped and companies would drop it soon enough lol
As someone who worked on AI since the turn of the millennium, we don't have AI or anything close at the moment. What we do have is a bunch of bots that are glorified search engines. ChatGPT et al would not even be able to come close to passing the Turing test without access to the internet. We are many years away from true AI or anything that comes close.
However, the real issue is that the internet itself is becoming more and more like the library of Babel. You know the library that contains every 410 page book that can be written (with a given set of characters of a given size) and therefore in theory contains all the knowledge that can ever be contained in such a book. However that library also contains tonnes and tonnes of nonsense and this is what the internet is becoming.
To give you an example, you can find articles on the internet saying that certain vegetables are both good for pregnancy and also very bad for pregnancy etc. etc.
As more nonsense, partly through the "work" of chatGPT et al is spewed into the internet, the "AI" bots will get less and less reliable to the extent that they will be mostly useless for anything other than writing a bunch of prose very fast for blogs or pointless documentation etc.
We will know when we have true AI, if that AI is able to function on any level close to a human without access to the internet at all. That is a long way off, but before that happens AI may indeed destroy the value of the internet due to its "fact checked" garbage.
