I am going to quit lichess

Ben will come back i think he didnt even close his account!
What is the time to quit the chess..player can decide it..but why he leaving the chess when an individual done a feat or development from 1100 lichess rating to 2200 lichess rating..I think he moved his heart and brain from chess..master ..take rest, think while in alone about your games of 2017 to 2020.you achieved extra ordinary work.. don't take emotional decisions..you will certainly achieves in life and game..to be frank I never played with you or watched your games..my words came when I read your words in thread
The guy is so sorely missed. He was such a goldmine of three check points :(
It says he is "singing out" on his profile, therefore he gave up chess for singing.
He did have an amazing singing voice. Quite like Celine Dion
I can't blame anyone for wanting to do something else. I quit chess for 30 years from age 35 to age 65. I'll probably quit again some day soon. Chess is a good game but when push comes to shove, after you play an opening a thousand times you feel like you're just pushing wood. It's like the surrealist play "Krapp's Last Tape" by Samuel Beckett where a guy listens to a tape that represents a year of his life and throughout the play he rewinds and replays, rewinds and replays, rewinds and replays. It's a metaphor for an empty life. Frankly, I don't see how chess players can tolerate the game after many years or even decades of play.

It's also a narcissistic game because it's not about anyone else but you. Your opponent is just an obstacle that stands in the way of you gaining rating points. This is especially true online where you have no clue about the identity of who you're playing. I get more joy out of replaying chess history's greatest games than I do out of playing myself. All of us occasionally uncork a great game but with the passage of time even those fade from memory. Chess is both beautiful and ugly. I have no clue why I play. It's almost out of addiction than anything else. I binge-play and then after a couple weeks of that I don't want to see a chessboard for weeks.
