Opponents leaving game

It's quite annoying when people leave game without resigning when in losing position, and surprising how many people do this!
Can't more be done to stop this bad sportsmanship? What level do I need to get to before I'm likely to see less of it? I'm currently only around 1200 blitz and it'd be nice to think it'll lessen if I get beyond beginner level!
I have 2000+ rated opponents who do this, although it's quite rare. At this level, I'm accused of cheating because a mere human couldn't possibly beat someone as well skilled as my opponent. The anonymity of the internet does bring out the worst of human nature, but most sites do a good job to reduce this activity.
Constantly happens to me. Just now actually. My opponent blundered his king early on. I've turned off takebacks in my settings so he can't ask for the move back. He offers a draw which I decline, and then proceeds to just let the clock run out.

Now, I've had times when playing on mobile when I got out of signal and I can't connect to the game, so it could look like I'm just rage-quitting, so I'm not judging everyone who does it. And I get why Lichess don't automatically ban people when it happens for that reason. But in a situation like mine, when my opponent has blundered early, sarcastically offers a draw, and then just disappears from the game completely, there can be no mistakes. They're sulking and rage-quitting and should, in my opinion, be banned on the spot.
my opponent hanged a rook in the opening and he stopped moving, super annoying

How about this? When a player disconnects from a game, if the engine rates them as minus 5 or worse and you still have significant time on your clock then they get a 24-hour ban? This would catch some of the sulkers who just walk away after blundering a queen or rook rather than resign and it would also act as a mild deterrent to time-wasters who insist on playing K vs K&Q endings just to be as irritating as possible.
Thanks for replies.
Some good ideas.
Maybe there should be more of a reporting system and if anyone gets so many complaints against them they get asked to explain, eg I understand if it's a connection issue

Gyryth re "playing K vs K&Q endings just to be as irritating as possible." I guess their hoping for stalemate?
It happens to me all the time. Checking my game historic, I think it happened in 10-15% of my game.
I'm also fed up with this. I think players doing this should get a permanent ban since they ruin the game.

Since Lichess IA is able to see who is cheatingwith complex methods, cant it see who leaves the game ?

It's unbelievable to see the proportion of 800-1500 elo who do this. It seems impossible for them to just click on "resign"
@Roonil_Wazlib Stalemate: I understand there are ways to swindle a stalemate if your opponent is careless (eg queens a pawn without seeing that it does not check your opponent but takes away all his legal squares) but sometimes I find I am having to play a 20-move K&R vs K checkmate when I have time on my clock and it's quite clear that I know how to play it, although my rating should already be enough. Maybe they hope my internet will go down and they will fluke a win, but how pathetic is that? And to top it all, sometimes they challenge you to a rematch after all that, as if you had nothing better to do than prove to them you aren't a complete beginner!
I like that you have the option to claim the win or else wait. If the position is even most likely they lost connection so I will wait.
