Not receiving notifications when tagged in a forum comment

In a thread for a different bug (lichess.org/forum/lichess-feedback/bug-i-suppose-so#4), @george_mcgeorge wrote "A bug I am experiencing (or feature?) is that I don't get notified if someone quotes me in the forums."

Today I had the same experience. I only noticed I had been tagged in a comment because I happened to read it. I did not receive any notification. As far as I know, this has not been a problem in the past.

Yes, that's right, before the big update, if you were quoted in the forum, you'd get a message.
This was a very useful feature that I really liked.

No idea. I'm not seeing a notification of any type. And I just was tagged in another comment without notice.

Actually, I have had to search for this particular notification (#5) actively.

What red number?
So does that mean when somebody cites me or asks me something directly using the @ character, I won't notice?
I think that is a pity. Doesn't make a discussion easier. Why has that been changed?

A few days ago, all my notifications disappeared - when I clicked on the bell, an empty window opened, at the bottom of which there was an inscription: notifications are prohibited in your browser settings.
A lot of time passed before I guessed to click on this inscription, as a result I went to the answer page in the FAQ section:
lichess.org/faq#browser-notifications

I read it, clicked on the lock in the address bar of the browser and saw that notifications were really forbidden for me for Lichess. Allow notifications. Now my notification window is just empty (no notifications) - they don't really exist.

I use MS Edge.

Now there was a notification - but it did not appear: only the notification counter was correctly displayed.
