New Player & The Sicillian: Theory Overload

@WildTiger thanks mate; I've acquired a sicilian kan book and have delved into it. There seems to be a lot of terrifying threats and strange sidelines (Maroczy Bind) but it's starting to feel more comfortable the more I read. I think the Kan is a good choice. Here's hoping it sticks.

@Palamede you are absolutely correct. I was concerned that the Sicilian lines would have e4 retaliation pet lines that would throw me out of theory; but after investigating the Kan line I don't feel that will be enough to put me off. It is much more to my liking than the other variations I've investigated.

Thanks everyone for the help.
@Puzzletraining what about this game demonstrates the Sicilian in your opinion? In my limited understanding of the opening it is to contest the center through a flank opening. Black (to me) was immediately in trouble when they decided not to push 9. .. d6 early to contest the center; instead playing 9. .. Qd2 and later 13. .. d5 into a heavily defended center. I'm afraid I'm going to need a bit more explanation. Although it is a good demonstration of the IQP I've been reading about.
My keyboard is broken, sicilian me newbie, tactics all over
