Collecting chess sets - I made a website

Hey guys! My father is passionate about chess collecting. I have created a page for him: www.chesscollecting.com what do you guys think? Any feedback on the design/template?

I have 6 chess sets uploaded, about 34 more to go! I wonder if you have any other ideas what could make for a fun website centred around artistic/unique/nice chess sets?
If you want, you can put a picture of Anzio chess set. It's a beautiful chess set with an outstanding knight in it. As far as I remember the pieces are red.
That Anzio chess set is indeed beautiful! At the moment we are posting the chess sets that we already have.

It will be a nice idea to showcase other famous chess sets. Things that would be nice to have. I am thinking about doing some research on different sets to see what we can find.
One famous chess set you may like, are the "Lewis Chessmen" It is a beautiful display set. I can also recommend a book on chess sets called... "Master Pieces" The architecture of chess... By Gareth Williams. Nice pics and a good read. :]
Thank you big time for the recommendation! Will track down that book.

We have a nice version of "Lewis Chessmen" from the National Museum of Scotland. Will add them to the website soon.
Cool collection.

I second the note on the Gareth Williams book -- it would be worth tracking it down.

And, I always appreciate simple and straightforward website design. (Serves its purpose.)

A couple of pointers:

On the individual chess set pages, you don't need the large banner at the top. Or, if you like having a banner at the top, make the height smaller (less).

Each page doesn't need the "Leave Feedback" at the bottom. Unless you want commentary on each individual set. It's an informational website to show-off a chess collection; a single "Contact" page would be simple enough. (Rather than managing several pages with comments.)

Both of these (individual page) settings can usually be managed in WordPress settings; usually within theme administration. (Else, if the theme doesn't allow management of these features, I'd suggest seeking another theme; same simple design if possible.)

One question:

Is it chess sets, piece sets, or boards? -- Some of those pieces look out-of-place on their boards; don't fit the squares. (Ex. "Mexican Army" and "Classical Anri")

I see chess art, too, in some of the pictures. Is there a board collection? I see several boards, so, I would assume there are a variety of boards with varying square sizes, which might better fit some piece sets, and not others...

Thank you MrCharles for detailed feedback!

The banner looks great on mobile, but may be too large on desktop, good point! Will tweak that to make it niceness on both.

I also agree with the comments. Rather than commenting, I may add some social share buttons as they are more popular than comments anyway.

The collection is mostly chess pieces. Boards come separate 90% of the time. We also have a collection of chess boards and chess clocks. Once I upload most of it, I will need to curate the photos a bit.

Once again, thank you for feedback! I will post back here once I make all these changes and upload more sets if you are interested.
