Take backs

Accept if you want. Don't if you do not want.
It's your right to accept or decline.
NEVER accept a takeback and expect that they NEED to repay the favour. They don't have to.
@Into-The-Fray #9. Asking for a takeback when you mouse slip is not the same as behaving like a child.
Behaving like a child would be for example "WHY DON'T YOU GIVE ME A TAKEBACK! YOU ARE SO MEAN COWARD! THIS IS NOT A REAL WIN!".
I agree with #22. I would say, take back if you KNOW that the position is winning, like an Atomic game I played; It was like mate in 4 and my opponent requested a take back. I granted it, because I knew that the last move would still be in the mate. If you don't know if it's a guaranteed win, then you shouldn't takeback. If you and your opponent know that you or your opponent misclicked, then it's reasonable to accept the take back. If it's not clear, then you shouldn't, because your opponent might've set up a sacrifice/trap and then calculated it and then saw that it didn't work. Other than that, I would do take backs from friends and people I know, because I know their intentions. FYI, I once had a game with @I_43KyleZ where we were playing a game and then I said "frick I misclicked" and then he allowed me to take back but he said that I couldn't play c3 (threatening checkmate) but I did anyway. I sometimes do it for the laughs. ;)
If it's a casual game, then I would accept. If it's a rated game, I would decline.
i allow take backs if i know its a missclick, but if for instance i was playing a game and i was threatening to take his queen and my opponent didnt see it, then i wont accept as it was a mistake on his part for not looking at what i was attacking.
I also do not allow takebacks at all, they are for children. I actually had one opponent throwing a tantrum over three games (all of which he lost, eventhough I played weak) because he claimed to have a mouseslip and then could not ask for a takeback. And I had some mouseslips myself, but in that case I suck it up. On the other hand, everytime I blunder my queen I could claim a mouseslip. So not take backs - I rather comitt to my moves and fight on.
So it seems the argument has shifted to mouse slips being justification for takebacks, which we have already pointed out that you can use move confirmation if your prone to mouse slipping. If your playing fast games that are too fast for move confirmation, then I would argue that slips are part of the game due to time pressure. Therefore moving accurately is part of the skill of the game, and interrupting a bullet game, which is probably already inaccurate due to flagging, would be again, childish at best. If your playing classical or rapid or with an increment, then there is no reason not to use move confirmation, and you can still pre-move without confirming, if you need to hurry. I'm curious what professionals opinions are. We already know the touch move rule in OTB is a strict rule. The other argument is that you would rather play out the position and not ruin the game. Id rather win the game and play a new one, and force you to discipline yourself and not get away with being sloppy. You can always analyze the position afterwards. I had a friend who took back all of his mistakes until he won, and then sings and dances how he won.
