Progressive Chess

Why are there no progressive chess competitions? Too difficult to set the chess program?
Progressive chess is the game were white gets one move, then black two, then white three moves, etc
It wouldnt work because white would win every time, from getting pawns to checkmate. If you want to, go to the board editor and play as white against yourself, you will see the difficulty.

White Black
e4 e5 d5
Bb5, Bxe8

OR

e4 e5 Nf6
Qh5,Bc4, Qxf7
At least three check and horde is very probably won for white, still we have it. In my opinion thats boring and we should have other variants instead (like benko chess) but thats just my opinion.
Progressive chess should be solved without much effort. Playing it would not make sense.
Progressive chess is perhaps the most popular variant -- at least before tens or hundreds of millions of internet games -- and great fun.

There's so far only one program (because it has been a tough challenge to programmers) that plays a whole game, and it plays quite well. Links are in the article. The program saves the games in PGN.

There are claims that progressive chess is solved. I don't believe that, it's too complex. Even if it were true it is impossible to play it (even near) perfectly for a human in a fast game. But it would be great to see someone use alphazero approach to the game. It might be too complex for that, too.

Progressive chess can not be played in bullet or blitz meaningfully. It's ideal for correspondence games (or rapid games), because the games are very short.
Using double fischerandom starting position for it would be great, as with any other variant here.
if u check then u should not be allowed to make another move in that turn
I like playing Progressive Chess, and white certainly does not always win. There should be a Progressive Chess world champion, but no one seems to offer it. The program is relatively easy to set up because once you check your opponent you turn ends, that makes it easier. It is a fascinating game to play, and helps people think ahead.
