I am looking at a list of participating chess players (It is a tournament of FIDE Grand Swiss
Chess.com 2019) on the website and have noticed that some female chess players do not have a female chess title. Is this a mistake on the website or is there any other reason?
http://chess-results.com/tnr478041.aspx?lan=1&art=0&flag=30&zeilen=99999When you meet the requirements for a FIDE title, you have the choice to buy it, or not buy it. Maybe they don't want to spend money on, let's say, WFM, if they're close to WIM or FM. Or it's just a mistake idk lol
Some women don't believe that women's titles should be awarded. Although I have the requirements for (non-chess) titles, I don't like them used.
@XasperLiu tf you have to pay for a title?
Yes, FIDE are hungry for money, although in some countries, their chess federation will pay for you
@XasperLiu mind sending a link? (I believe you, just curious.)
@Emdryo, The same question arises for me. The first time I hear you have to pay for the title ?! And that the women's title must be paid separately! I ask out of curiosity what are the prices for individual titles?
I've heard that they require an application fee, just as colleges do, to defray the administration costs. However, when they started granting lesser titles, the money seems to become the goal.
arena.myfide.net/ratings-and-titles/titlesI would have thought IM ranks above WGM in the list of titles and almost all female players in the Grand Swiss are at least IMs, and chessresults just shows the highest title.
