how to be the most solid defender in chess?

You should always pay attention to the threat and plan of your opponent and make defense in advance. At the same time, you can't defend all the time. You should look for opportunities to counterattack.
Read a Chess book like The Art of Defense in Chess by A Soltis which was an eye opener to me' ... Check the analysis with Modern software like here on Lichess should be fun . Books & Complete Games by Lev Poulgevesky can show you the value of every move but some of those works can be confusing to most everyone up to GMs as they contain lines like The Poulgevesky Variation in the Najdorf 7... b5!? that are called "The Variation" by him with his secret Chess Lab Documented ... again must be a blast to go through with modern chess software the book Grandmaster Preperation by Lev Poulgevesky but Start somewhere @hydroshadow ,,, Counterattacking poor moves is a cornerstone of Chess
What people find hard to crack is:

1.d4
London System.
French Defense.
Semi-Slav. Slav Exchange Var. (the latter isn't 'hard to crack', it's a draw).

What I personally also find hard to crack is:

Modern, Pirc, K.I.D - the all have 'the fortress' - Nf6, g6, Bg7,0-0. and also d6.
English Opening, let alone with a Botvinnik Setup.
Caro Kann - Botvinnik-Carls, against the Advanced Var.
The Scandi, because it's Caro-Kann - based.
Philidor's Defense.
Stonewall Dutch.
