The main idea of this line is to promote c5 at the right time. For example, here: 6. Ng3 e6 7. Bc4 (7. Bd3) and 7...c5!=.
And about 17...g5?!: too sharply, in similar situations 17... Nh5 or even 17... Bxf4 would be better.
