"THIS IS NOT REGULAR CHESS!!!! Don't say we didn't warn you. You can now start tournaments on Lichess from any legal chess positions, even strange ones like this. "
The analysis board with the position was linked, you could have messed around with it before joining and figured out what to do.
#1 Oh boy. Let me separate this...
1. Having a feedback forum allows us to better understand players' needs. Here some sort of indicator about which pieces to move (either white knight) could be a useful addition. White moves first (at least in this tournament).
2. Everyone is playing by the same rules, so technically this is fair; there isn't a need to call forum topics "unfair" unless you really want to start a debate.
@TCF_Namelecc how would players understand this chess in the analysis board
lichess did not say it properly and if they did less players would get warnings.
plus it was not a variant in lichess
By trying stuff out of course, trying to move pieces, seeing what moves stockfish suggests (which would also tell you who is to move and how to move), etc.
well they will understand if they tell how to play the variant.
This upside down starting position may be easier to understand with the option to show board coordinates activated.
but still all the players banned from the upside down tournament should be unbaned
No, if you enter a game, it is your responsibility to understand and play by the rules. Saying that everything has to be spoon fed to you is not a reasonable excuse. If you want to make sure, no one misunderstands anything, you would have to take meassures that would impact the usability for every player a lot.
Btw accepting one owns mistake and taking the consequences does not only help in chess but in life in general.
@QEDemonstrandum there color will be in different sides and they may know what color is there color
and when time runs out they lose
