Puzzle 62680

Hi guys,

New to chess and trying out the puzzles, I was wondering why does the game (Puzzle 62680) recommend that I take out the bishop on c2 with my knight than moving my knight to e2 which puts his king into check and requiring a reaction from the opponent? The only moves for the opponent if my knight moves to e2, correct me if I am wrong is either the king can move into another square or the queen takes out my knight which allows my queen to take out the queen without any consequence.

Instead the game says the solution is knight takes out bishop and strangely his rook goes on to attack my rook which seems suicidal to me.

Thanks in advance.
lichess.org/training/62680 The reason is actually quite simple really. The Queen is the sole defender of both the bishop on c2 and the knight on g5, so when you take the bishop on c2, you compell the loss of a minor piece, if you recapture the knight on c2, Qxg5 wins a piece, and if you don't take back the knight on c2, well you're down a piece for nothing. A classic overloaded tactic.
Edit- Just seen Defeat Champion beat me to explaining the tactic.
Thank you both for enlightening this puzzle. With your explanation pn2206 its helped me understand the key point here is the fact that the Queen was the sole defender of 2 pieces and therefore we abused that into our own benefit.

I still don't understand why the rook attacked my rook though. Is that to try and even out in value loss?
Rxf8 does nothing, its just an even exchange, rook for rook. After Rxf8 Rxf8, white is still losing a piece, either the bishop on c2 or the knight on g5 is still going to be lost.
