Good [white] openings for 1700

I am currently rated about 1700. I play the london system right now but i feel like i need a new opening for white
You play the London System so I am going to assume that you prefer positional games instead of tactical ones. In that case, some openings with 1. e4 are the Ruy Lopez (1. e4 e5, 2. Nf3 Nc6, 3. Bb5) or if against the Sicilian, the Closed Sicilian (1. e4 c5, 2. Nc3). The English opening (1. c4) is a good positional route as well.
play english opening , caro-kann ( black ) and

I beat Quickly 1800 rated computer with English opening
Play 1. d4, play 2. c4 against just about anything. I used to play the London (similarly, I would aim for a kingside attack while castling queenside), and I've since switched to the Queen's Gambit. There's a single line that you should know that requires a bit more than just opening principles, and that's the QGA where black tries to hold the pawn.
1. d4 d5
2. c4 dxc4
3. e3 b5
4. a4 c6??
5. axb5 cxb5
6. Qf3! 1-0
That's the only theory you "need" to know. If you follow opening principles, it's pretty easy to gain a playable game. However, you may want to find theory on some of the gambits that black can throw at you; some of them can be kinda scary if you're not prepared.
As mentioned, the English is a good choice. Particularly the Catalan. It's a bit richer in theory, but I think you can handle it. The Torre Attack is another option at your level. At the expert and master levels, most people will know how to equalize (or just find common sense ideas), but sub 2000, I've seen it be quite effective for an early advantage. I've also seen quite a few become flustered with less popular anti-KID lines like 1. d4 Nf6 2. Nf3 g6 3. g3 Bg7 4. Bg2 O-O 5. O-O d6 6. a4!? I suppose if you're planning on achieving mastery, it may be more beneficial to stick to solid and theory-rich openings and their main lines.
@doom12384 theres another trap with QGA that has a similar set up you mentioned except Black moves
4..a6 instead of c6, quickly followed by
5 axb5 axb5
6 Rxa8.

Either way, if Black doesnt play smart to keep the pawn, they can lose a minor piece or entire Rook.
I 'm kinda in the same boat... I absolutely love the Pirc & the Modern when playing the black pieces: But, what to play as white has been a work in progress. I've tried D4... Colle sys./ London/ Veresov and it's hit or miss ( often times a win comes with a patient grindit out strategy and I find it boring to play that way) // I've tried E4 and I'm always running into exchange artists who are content to play 50plus move rook endgames. The english: everyone responds with E5 and it has the feel of a D4 game. Currently I'm trying out the Hungarian opening with the white pieces... I'm just looking to play openings that are fun, creative, flexible, and are anti-exchange... I want to make the position more complex and interesting rather then pare things done and oversimplify. Most players balk at the hyper-modern method. But, thinking outside the box may be the way to go if you wanna play your game your way. Good luck! finding your serendipitous openings.
Definitly the English. Its the opening that has tge fewest trapa that black can incorporate. It you dont know your opponent the Kings Indian Accepted is alao good as its basically the same move order. As black caro and actually the scandanavian works well with black at its has less traps for white to exploit in the opening.
It is impossible to give a good advice without knowing more about your playing style. 1700, formerly playing the London opening, that doesn't say much. What do you play with Black ? Do you like endgames ? Messy positions ? Positional squeezes ? Do you intend to learn an opening by trial and error for a few months or do you prefer to study it in books ? How many moves of opening theory do you typically learn ? Do you intend to play classical chess in a club or blitz on the internet ?
A good opening is one that will increase your overall playing strength permanently (unless you're already a professionnal, but your stated rating excludes this case).
