Who will be the next world champion? Parham Maghsoodloo?!

Parham Maghsoodloo is very serious about it, but there are many newcomers out there. Who do you think will become the new champion?

Either Duda or Giri.

Hard to say but if magnus continues being motivated I don’t see him being surpassed anytime soon

@papabones That's what Mark (friend of mine, FM) also said. But Giri has a good shot, and I think Parham is up for it. He'll be 2700+ this summer and he will improve quickly.

@deepLA : which is exactly why he has a chance of winning the real thing as well. I mean, remember the percentage of draws in the Carlsen-Caruana match.

he would lose terribly in the blitz.. and even if he manages to score a win,carlsen can bounce back with 2 wins

So only Giri as a possible contender? Or Carlsen? That is pretty slim pickings...

@chessmasterinayear what do you see in parham that is special over other top juniors? Not saying he doesn’t have potential, but I don’t see it, just curious.

@papabones in an interview he mentioned working 10 hours a day, consistently. That is an edge. I am not saying others aren't doing this, but if Parham can solely focus on chess, he has an advantage over his fellow competitors. But you're right, there are many other strong players out there.
