Free website for people who want to improve in chess!

Hi everyone,

We have developed a free chess learning platform called chessfactor.com which offers structured training programs for different levels and covers chess topics such openings, middlegame strategy, tactics and endgame strategies. We offer a wide range of video material in combination with instructive exercises. The videos were recorded by great GMs and IMs such as GM Sam Shankland, IM Alex Astaneh, GM Alex Lenderman, GM Alex Ipatov, IM Andrey Ostrovskiy and many more.

As said the website is completely free. We would really appreciate feedback so that we can improve it further.

Feel free to check it out!

@rabl

What's the catch? Why do you offer it for free? Who made the website as its designing looks expensive.

How can it be that videos of Shankland are offered for 150 dollars on chessable and are free on your site? Please explain.
@rabl I checked your website and I think its pretty cool! Offering a lot of videos and exercises for free is not something every chess website does. Thank you very much and keep up the good work!
@xPhilosophusx there is no catch! The reason why we offer it for free is the following:
We are a small team of chess enthusiasts and all of us have fulltime jobs. Chessfactor was always our side project and at the beginning, we tried to monetarize the website with subscription models. However, to promote the website more time effort and money is required and it is difficult to compete against the big players. We just don’t have the time and resources to do this.
Therefore, during the Christmas break, we sat together and decided to offer the website completely for free and to upload the videos on YouTube. Now, we try to cover the running costs of the website by monetarizing our videos with YouTube ads. So far, we have spent a lot of time into the website and didn’t wanted that the website just disappears. The website is for sure not perfect but we have a lot of great content that might be helpful for chess players of all levels.

Have a look on the website and message me back what you think about the website.
@rabl yeah I understand that, but can you answer me why you have the videos of the GMs please, did you buy the rights to spread their videos? I doubt that they are part of your team. I'll give it a try if you explain that. As I said Shankland offers courses for a lot of money, I wanted to know why he does for free at your site. Also I don't understand why you make it for free when in need of money. Is registration needed at your chess site?
@xPhilosophusx Yes, the GMs and IMs produced exclusively video material for us and we paid them to have the full rights on the material. Of course, you have to register on the website but you can also watch the published videos on our YouTube channel.
