Does using 3D pieces translate better to OTB?

I've noticed it's harder for me to parse the board when I play in real life, because I've always just played and practiced on 2D online boards. Do you think swapping the pieces to the 3D models and making the board max size would help with this transition? I think I play much worse when I do that but it might be for the same reason.

You could practice which will make you better

The 3D version just looks confusing while at OTB your view onto the chessboard is not as good as on the 2D version.

You could set up the board and then have somebody else play the computer for you
