the old man – dead
the young man – alive
but what a life?
a life, supposed to be the life of a so-called hero,
within weeks has turned into the life of a villain.
the old man – dead on the ground in front of his house
the young man – gutted.
the old man will never return
the young man will be in prison for years
or maybe will be exchanged against some other young man
so that they both can return home soon,
but neither the first nor the latter will revive the old man,
this old man remains dead dead dead
perished in a futile war of aggression,
his life snuffed out within seconds,
his life snuffed out eternally.
the old man's family, his children, his brothers, his sisters, his parents maybe – broken-hearted
the young man's family, his parents, his brothers, his sisters, his children maybe – in desperation
what was the young man's mistake?
to kill a completely innocent human being?
or to be watched and filmed while doing so, and to get captured then?
Mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters
don't you really understand that the first is the mistake,
that your children are no heroes, but victims in a futile war of aggression,
that lots of acts of cowardice (and YOUR sons are committing these acts, it is them, who show up in places where they are not supposed to be!) are no heroic deeds,
and above all:
that it is no comfort to a loving person who has lost his son or daughter as cannon fodder for a political leader sitting in his warm room, miles away from all the danger zones he has created at the mighty snap of his fingers, if his sons' and daughters' corpses posthumously get decorated with brightly polished war medals ...
This young man shot, he didn't want to shoot, he explained himself, he tried to refuse for a moment, but when he heard the voice of his superior “Come on, shoot!” he shot.
He shot two men out of their lives, he shot two families to pain and despair.
His superior shouted at least two men out of their lives, he shouted at least to familys to pain and despair, but probably there are many, many more victims of coward personalities like this superior in this fruitless, futile war.
Stop this stupid war! Don't throw your souls and bodies away. Throw this ugly war away!
