Can someone explain to me why in Discovered Attack#5 (Practice) the first move is bishop to F4? White responds with Rook to C7, but that doesn't make any sense to me. Why doesn't white simply capture the black bishop? I can't figure the logic out. Thanks!
After Bf4, white's queen is hanging. If white wastes time taking the black bishop, then black will take its queen. Rc7 defends the queen at the expense of losing the bishop on e3.
