The reasons I have stopped reporting cheaters.

I would appreciate short notice from Lichess - like "reviewed, not sufficient evidence of cheating to ban player you reported". Believe this can be easily automated. Otherwise sometimes reporting and see no response.

That's a great idea, it avoids the feeling that you're sending reports into a black hole.
Cheating paranoia is more harmful, than cheating itself.

Cheating where money are on the line or Fide rating points is what all efforts should be thrown at. All the rest we can deal by ourselves... simply, if you think you are playing cheater resign and block the guy, you won't be playing him anymore, it's that simple... you will soon learn a different perspective to this, playing a cheater will actually seem fun. Cheaters are harming themselves only, unless they live rent free in your head, but that is your head right? are you in charge of your head?

And yeah, don't get too attached to your online "meaningless" rating points, otherwise cheating paranoia will haunt you all the time.
I've probably had three or four or five non-concurrent accounts here and at chess.com over the years, as my interest in chess has come and gone at any given time.

When I am active at chess.com obsessively playing dozens of games a day, I get email messages at least once or twice a week indicating that their cheat detection system found one of my fellow beginner opponents to be cheating.

Here at lichess, on the other hand, I never get cheat detection emails.

What is that?

Lichess uses algorithms capable of detecting cheating without needing to send you a message. but Lichess can't look everywhere and that's why the reporting system exists, which encourages players to report any type of harmful behavior on or off the board. Additionally, if there is a delay between a game where you lost and the banning of a cheater, Lichess will refund your points. Greeting
I lost a series of games the other day 7 1/2 to 2 1/2 to an opponent with a rating number about equal to mine.

That person over the course of ten games definitely seemed to be playing at a higher level that I am accustomed to in the 1200 to 1300 range. My two wins and the draw were by the skin of my teeth, and the seven losses were either blowouts or games where he was never in trouble at any point, and I was never able to get counter play.

Now, is that evidence the person was cheating? Of course, not. I've had a few people accuse me of cheating in the chat, which is always good for a chuckle.

On the other hand, if you play enough of these games, you start to develop a feel for what opponents at your level are capable of doing. And when people go beyond that, well, it's reasonable grounds for suspicion. I don't believe that should be derided.

I don't have any axe to grind. I prefer lichess to chess.com for my needs. But I would suggest the team add cheat notices when cheating is found. It might be the one thing that chess.com does better than this place.
