Aborting games (for the a^n th time)

One may set the rating range against whom desires to play. IMHO, it is rude to set up a game (or worse, join it) and then abort right out. You don't wanna play weakies, change your settings!!!!!!!
It is not just about ratings.

There are several reasons to abort a game.
There's no really good excuse to abort a game.

1) "I didn't want to play someone of that rating (too high or low)"

Well set the ratings range as mentioned in #1

2) "The missus called me for my tea"

Don't sit there playing chess and letting your missus do all the cooking

3) "I'm at work and the boss walked in"

Do your f***ing job and don't be playing chess there dang it

4) "I didn't want to play that colour"

Set your desired colour

In short, #1 is right. It is damned annoying and rather rude.
All of your counter-arguments apply to my #2. (Something came up in real life)

1. Clicking the wrong game.
2. Something came up in real life
3. Bad internet connection so you choose to abort.
4. Someone joined you who you don't wish to play.
5. Simply changed your mind.
6. If your opponent leaves your game without clicking abort.
7. Somebody is sandbagging you (They are a good player, but made another account so they don't have a rating that matches their strength)

;)
I am not sitting there for 5 mins waiting for some fool to make a move in a 1 min game that they set up. And lag can dial the 1-800-suckondeezigototherpatzerstobeatthanwaitforyourabsentass hotline. Viva!
I usually don't join games, I create games and wait for someone to join.

For me there are 5 reasons that make me abort a game:

1. My opponent is using too much time for his first move. When one minute is passed, I abort the game.

2. I specified a range, ex. ±200 my rating, but I'm in a losing streak; I don't want to play against the top range.

3. I created the games mins ago and no one net joined. When he joins, I realize I don't have enough time for one complete game and I abort it.

4. I have a note for that opponent as a bad player, for example one that when has no winning opportunities doens't play or resign, just makes leaves the game until his time finishes.

5. The players has few games (< 5). His rating has too much variance and I usually avoid to play him - but sometimes I do.
But when you make the same game seek someone else makes, and your rating ranges match each others' ratings, lichess auto-pairs you. Therefore aborting games interferes not only with people who accept your seeks, but also with other people making seeks, who want to play people your rating even if you don't want to play them.

Correctly using rating ranges on seeks is helpful for everyone.
Steven Seagal approves the message right before you and looks with pithy disdain upon this one albeit while accepting the general truth of your complaint about rating ranges. You have earned Steven Seagal's Seal of Approval. You may continue.
Thanks for the input, guys. Post 6, reason 2 - sorry, nope. Change your range settings.

The UI is set up to facilitate the user's preferences. Use it, I say. Yes, sometimes we have to dump out, I have myself. My complaint is because I feel it is far too often. My post was a 'friendly reminder'.
