random question, I don't know. for the sake of this question, the king that is in checkmate is black.
maybe g8?
E1 (if you're a black king)
Black king - E8
White King - E1
I can safely bet that it is g8 square.
( As white has always higher win rate, reverse on g1 is not true)
1. I think that it needs to be a square that offers the least amount of moves, so any corner.
2. I think it needs to be the corner that the king easiest go to.
3. h8
@drmrboss is right, it is g8 square, and g1 is second most likely
Interestingly, b2 is the least likely square for a king to be mated on
www.reddit.com/r/chess/comments/kp7qwe/i_looked_at_a_million_games_played_on_lichess_and/ I wonder how it differs if games would be sorted by rating and by time control.
H2 (WIHTE GETS CHECKMATED)
H7 (BLACK GETS CHECKMATED)
I think, it will be somewhere towards the center for both the white and the black kings because once the king is successfully brought to the center, it can easily be attacked and hence maybe the c ,d, e and f files and the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th ranks are very risky for the kings in the opening and the middle game (of course not during the endgame).
