Hey everyone,
I am here to share this moment in a game where resignation occurred in a close to even position. Why? Because I feel there is a lesson here about fighting through a game even when it feels lost. In chess the struggle is real. However in that struggle we find our creativity and our tenacity. If chess were easy it wouldnt be so interesting. Some details about the game..
Time control is 10 Minute Rapid
8 Move game
With 9:50 seconds left on the clock black resigns due to a perceived tactic losing their bishop. Ask yourself before asking the engine, is this bishop lost? Ask yourself if you would have done the same in their shoes or if you would have fought on
a) not knowing its possible to protect the piece but lets do this
b) knowing you have lots of the time on the clock to make a plan and potentially find resources
c) because yes damnit this position is even
Take what you like from this. I hope this serves as encouragement for you to dig in, look deeper, and find the enjoyment and growth in chess that comes from your grit. Whatever your skill level.
Happy chess!!
