Lower level Tournaments

Being a lower level player like me, there's really no way to play and be successful in a tournament like a daily blitz or something along the lines of that.

So what I'm suggesting is that Lichess add different categories of tournaments, but just do this like once or twice a week just to get some even matchups going. They could add like a 2000+ or a 1300-1700 or something like that. I think that this would give some lower level players to get the joy of winning a tournament against people who are their own skill level or at least around there
It'd be nice to have some kind of integrated competition whereby players compete against those of a similar level, for sure.

I'm not sure that what you propose by itself is the answer though - it doesn't encourage improvement.

We need some kind of league or ladder or something with promotion and relegation attached.
#2 I agree: arenas with multiple sections sound like fun, especially if sections are automatically generated (as they are OTB in some cases)!

#1 I disagree: no rule-abiding user should be prevented from entering an arena.
It is interesting say Section 1900 +/- 100.
So only those with rating 1800 to 2000 are allowed to enter.
its only matter to -1800 i think, for me a up to 1800 would b cool
im all for having lower rating tournaments,
However i know if that happens we will have people complaining about sandbaggers the whole time... so its a case of you can you make everyone happy, and the answer is ...
#6 Exactly. So it's important to allow all players to enter the tournament, and not to decide what the sections are until the tournament starts (so sandbaggers won't know what the section boundaries are).
@toadofsky, thats a really clever idea...
that idea brings up some really interesting options,
only possible flaw imo is people being put into a lower category when they wanted to play with the big boys (im sure you have already thought of that though!)
i agree with lower level tournament because the ones that exist i cannnot play in
#8 A "solution" to that problem is to put every player in the upper category; or players deal with the reality that they might not be placed in the category of their choosing.
