French group encourages mass departure from Elon Musk's X platform on US inauguration day

The French Human Rights League (LDH) and the National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) cofounded the collective “HelloQuitteX,” which is now supported by a group of 86 unions and organisations that pledge to no longer post any content on X because the algorithms “favour the proliferation of hateful content and conspiracy theories,” according to a press release on their website.

The platform, the coalition says, has also been the scene of “cyberharassment campaigns” by the far right in countries like France and the United States.

I don't believe that he is left wing - as he allows Nazi stuff on his web page and the moderators ignore me when I report it

Thibault is a developer. He has better things to do with his time than policing the off-topic (which he primarily sees as a way of letting steam off so that spammers don't pollute the chess-related forum).

In addition Lichess has a relatively small budget and can't afford to pay the wage for many moderators. Notably, in 2024 Lichess hired more moderators, and as a result the spending exceeded the incomes. You can read more here, in the section "finance and governing" lichess.org/@/Lichess/blog/lichess-a-review-of-2024/hYZssXbK
In turn most moderators don't want to deal with the off-topic, which they see as a heap of trash.

I will agree with you that sometimes moderator decisions seem questionable, but if you have any doubt Thibault is left wing, I invite you to have a look at his mastodon profile, that I linked above.

He sets the rules. So he chooses rules that are good for far right extremists.

So close the forums instead if it becomes a nazi thing and he doesn't want to moderate.

That's what he'd do if he cared - but he doesn't.

I look at his actions, and they say far right to me. Because he

a) created a forum

b) decided to have rules that are good for right wing extremists

c) when they then show up and post naxi stuff, he just lets them.
